Job Posting: Head Custodian Surry Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our Custodial Crew as the Head Custodian. Position Details Job Title: Head Custodian Hours: 8 hours per day Compensation: Hourly wage, commensurate with experience Responsibilities Routine sweeping, vacuuming, and dry and wet mopping of floors; the dusting/cleaning of trim, furniture, tops of desks, bookcases, telephones, mirrors, and interior glass; the collection and removal of trash. Disinfecting of desks, handles, doors, bathrooms, water fountains and other high traffic areas during the school day. Periodic cleaning, buffing, and finishing of floors (stripping and waxing), carpet cleaning, and the cleaning of windows and shades. Performs the shoveling and sanding of walks and entry ways. Oversees or performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. Examines school buildings on a regular basis and conducts an ongoing program for needed repairs, maintenance and safety issues. Routine tasks such as light bulb changing, clock setting, office requests (e.g. delivery of packages), organizing storage areas. Complete cleaning of the school in the summer including moving classroom furniture and supplies as needed for changing programs or school improvement projects. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Facilities Capital Improvement Plan and is able to effectively monitor, track, and report on project progress. Qualifications Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior custodial or related experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) is required.
