Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

JCW has partnered with a leading specialty insurance MGA seeking a Data Engineer to join their lean, high-impact technology team. This person will own the full data ingestion function, from pipeline design and orchestration through data quality and reliability, ensuring that carrier feeds, policy and claims data, and third-party sources arrive on time, land cleanly, and can be trusted before they reach the business or the analytics layer above them.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on data engineer who takes real ownership of their domain. You have built and run production pipelines end to end, you know what it means to be accountable when something breaks, and you get genuine satisfaction from turning unreliable infrastructure into something the business can depend on. You thrive on a small team where your judgment is visible, and your work has a direct impact.

Key Qualifications:

• 5+ years in data engineering or a closely related role
\n
• Strong SQL and Python
\n
• Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
\n
• Genuine ownership experience with data ingestion and ELT tools such as Fivetran or Airbyte, not just managing a pre-built setup
\n
• Experience with pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or dbt Cloud
\n
• Solid grounding in relational databases including SQL Server or Azure SQL
\n
• Track record of owning pipelines end-to-end in production with accountability for failures and fixes
\n
• Experience with insurance, MGA, or financial services data a plus
\n
• Familiarity with bordereaux, carrier reporting, or regulated data reporting a plus
\n
• Salesforce data integration experience and working knowledge of dbt a plus
\n
• Exposure to AI/ML or LLM-based tooling and awareness of NY DFS cybersecurity regulation a plus
