Location Seattle, Washington, USA Responsibilities Defining and delivering on long‑term product and architecture strategy for AWS Identity and Access Management services. Operational ownership of low‑latency, high‑availability Authentication and Authorization services used by all of AWS globally. Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, retaining, and performance management for a best‑in‑class engineering team. Communicating development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leadership. Ownership and continuous improvement of all operational metrics and automation tools for the team’s software. Executing against project plans and delivery commitments; managing day‑to‑day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams. 3+ years of designing or architecting reliability and scaling of new and existing systems. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and life‑site operations. Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy. Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.
