Position Summary

The Director, Strategy & Business Transformation is a key member of the Laboratory Chemical Division (LCD) Divisional Leadership Team and strategic partner to the Division President. This leader will shape LCD’s long-term strategy, lead STRAP and Strategy Deployment, and drive high-impact transformation initiatives that deliver sustainable growth and earnings improvement.

The role will translate strategy into a focused portfolio of executable priorities with clear accountability, milestones, KPIs, and financial outcomes. Two Program Managers will support execution of the division’s highest-priority strategic and transformation initiatives.

This position is designed to provide broad enterprise leadership experience and serve as a potential pathway to future General Manager roles within LCD.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & STRAP

• Partner with the Division President and DLT to shape LCD’s long-term strategy and strategic priorities.
• Own and lead STRAP , integrating market, customer, competitive, portfolio, operational, technology, and financial perspectives.
• Identify opportunities to accelerate growth, strengthen competitive advantage, and improve profitability.
• Develop strategic scenarios, business cases, and recommendations for key business decisions.
• Build alignment across Business Units and functions around strategic choices and priorities.

Strategy Deployment

• Lead Strategy Deployment , translating STRAP into a focused portfolio of initiatives, A3s, KPIs, milestones, financial commitments, and accountable owners.
• Establish the operating cadence to track performance, resolve barriers, and accelerate execution.
• Prioritize resources and leadership attention against the initiatives with the greatest strategic and financial impact.
• Partner with Finance to establish business cases, benefit targets, and rigorous tracking of realized impact.
• Deploy two Program Managers to drive execution of key strategic initiatives.

Business Transformation

• Lead high-impact, cross-functional transformation and change initiatives across LCD.
• Build and drive a pipeline of opportunities delivering sustainable earnings improvement, productivity, margin expansion, growth, and working-capital improvement.
• Drive structural improvements in business processes, capabilities, operating models, and ways of working.
• Establish rigorous governance and accountability for transformation milestones, risks, and benefit realization.
• Partner across functions and Business Units to remove barriers, accelerate execution, and ensure benefits are realized and sustained.

Division Leadership

• Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the Division President and DLT.
• Bring an enterprise perspective to decisions, balancing growth, customer, operational, organizational, and financial priorities.
• Constructively challenge assumptions and bring fact-based insights to complex business decisions.
• Build alignment and mobilize teams across Business Units, regions, and functions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, execution, and continuous improvement.

AI and Innovation

• Shape and own the division’s AI, Innovation and business transformation roadmap, translating strategic priorities into a portfolio of high-value initiatives that leverage AI, automation, data and emerging technologies to improve growth, productivity, customer experience and organizational effectiveness.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives that translate AI and innovative concepts into scalable business solutions. Establish clear business cases, success measures and adoption plans; track realized value; and use evidence to determine which opportunities should scale, stop or evolve.

• Clear, differentiated STRAP with strong CLT, DLT and organizational alignment.
• Effective translation of strategy into executable priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Delivery of strategic and transformation initiatives against milestones, KPIs, and financial commitments.
• Creation and realization of a strong pipeline of sustainable earnings improvement.
• Demonstrated improvement in growth, margin, productivity, working capital, and organizational effectiveness.
• Increased execution discipline and accountability across LCD.
• Demonstrated readiness for broader P&L and General Manager leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Finance, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience across strategy, business transformation, operations, commercial leadership, business development, or general management.
• Proven ability to translate strategy into measurable business results .
• Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional transformation and change.
• Strong business and financial acumen with experience driving growth, productivity, margin expansion, and earnings improvement.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge, and align senior leaders across a global organization.
• Enterprise mindset, bias for action, and ability to lead effectively through ambiguity and change.
• Demonstrated potential for broader P&L and General Manager leadership.
• Life Sciences, Laboratory Products, Chemicals, Scientific Products, or related industry experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $192,100.00–$280,000.00.
