IT Applications Engineer V

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an IT Applications Engineer V to design, implement, and optimize enterprise applications supporting our healthcare operations. In this senior role, you'll architect scalable solutions, integrate third-party and internal systems, and ensure performance, reliability, and security. You'll collaborate with product, infrastructure, and security teams to translate business needs into robust technical designs, lead complex troubleshooting, and mentor junior engineers. This position emphasizes automation, CI/CD, documentation, and continuous improvement across our applications ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, secure enterprise application solutions
• Develop, configure, and integrate applications with internal and third-party systems
• Lead complex incident resolution, root cause analysis, and performance tuning
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA)
• Create and maintain technical documentation and standards
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to technical roadmap planning
• Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to improve the applications ecosystem
