About the Team The Generative Prototyping team at Adobe Research is pioneering the future of Generative AI (GenAI) video authoring. Our mission is to invent and prototype the next generation of creative workflows that empower filmmakers and creators through multimodal AI experiences. We work in tight feedback loops with GenAI filmmakers to iterate rapidly and ship transformative tools for Creative Cloud and emerging AI-first products. Our work has been featured at Company Kickoff and directly informs Adobe's GenAI product roadmap. Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer who thrives at the intersection of frontier research and applied engineering. This is a high-impact, senior-level role for a proven builder and researcher with significant domain expertise in GenAI - someone who can lead the invention and prototyping of novel video authoring experiences, connect heterogeneous in-house and third-party models into cohesive agentic workflows, and accelerate Adobe's strategic position in controllable, multimodal generation. As a senior member of the Generative Prototyping team, you'll partner directly with filmmakers and creative professionals to translate ambiguous creative needs into working systems, and you'll help shape the technical direction of the team. Key Responsibilities Lead the invention, prototyping, and iteration of user-facing GenAI experiences with production-level rigor. Architect and integrate heterogeneous models (in-house and third-party) across text, image, audio, and video into cohesive, agentic workflows. Build multimodal editing and conversational interfaces for next-generation creative tools. Collaborate closely with filmmakers and creative professionals in tight feedback loops, running structured user studies and evaluations to refine prototypes. Shape strategic direction by staying ahead of emerging trends in controllable generation, agentic workflows, and multimodal systems. Establish best practices that bridge research and productization, mentor others, and enable the team to scale. Required Qualifications MS or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a senior research or engineering capacity. Significant hands-on experience with GenAI models across multiple modalities (text, image, audio, video). Proven track record of rapid prototyping and iterative development for user-facing applications, with production-level quality. Deep knowledge of agentic workflows and controllable generation techniques. Demonstrated ability to bridge research and productization - turning ambiguous ideas into impactful, shipped prototypes. Excellent collaboration skills and direct experience working with end-users to drive product decisions. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field. Track record of top-tier publications and recognized contributions to GenAI research. Experience leading or significantly contributing to multimodal systems and conversational interfaces at scale. Prior experience building creative tools or working with creative professionals. Expected Pay Range: Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $164,600 -- $313,300 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. In California, the pay range for this position is $216,400 - $313,300 In New York, the pay range for this position is $216,400 - $313,300 In Washington, the pay range for this position is $204,800 - $296,600 At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
