Executive Sous Chef

Location: Raza's at Hamilton
Reports To: Executive Chef / Owner

Position Summary

Raza's at Hamilton is seeking an experienced, passionate, and hands-on Executive Sous Chef to help lead our culinary team. The Executive Sous Chef is responsible for assisting in all kitchen operations, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety while fostering a positive and productive work environment. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations and service.
• Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality.
• Ensure all dishes meet Raza's standards for taste, presentation, and portion control.
• Manage food preparation, line setup, and kitchen workflow during service.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health department compliance.
• Monitor inventory, ordering, receiving, and proper food storage.
• Reduce food waste and control food costs.
• Assist in menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe standardization.
• Schedule and coordinate kitchen staff as needed.
• Maintain equipment and communicate maintenance needs.
• Lead by example with professionalism, teamwork, and accountability.
• Step into the Executive Chef's role when necessary.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive kitchen leadership experience.
• Previous Sous Chef or Executive Sous Chef experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with inventory management and cost control.
• Culinary degree is a plus but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Line Cook

Raza's at Hamilton is looking for dependable, motivated Line Cooks who are passionate about preparing exceptional food in a fast-paced kitchen. The ideal candidate is a team player who takes pride in consistency, cleanliness, and delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards.
• Set up and stock workstations before each shift.
• Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation of all dishes.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store food items.
• Assist with prep work, receiving deliveries, and cleaning duties.
• Report equipment or food quality issues promptly.
• Support other kitchen team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or line cook experience preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Food Handler Certification is a plus.
