Clinical Manager

The Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing back-office clinical workflow across all practice locations to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient care. This role supervises clinical support staff, including technicians and scribes, and is responsible for training Practice Leads and clinical personnel. The Clinical Manager ensures clinical equipment is operational, assists with regulatory compliance including OSHA requirements, and coordinates training and supplies with vendors and pharmaceutical representatives. This role also supports day-to-day clinical operations and may perform ophthalmic technician duties as needed to maintain patient flow and operational efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Operations Oversight Supervise and support back-office clinical staff including technicians and scribes. Monitor patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations and minimize patient wait times. Assist with resolving patient service concerns and elevate issues to management as appropriate. Work collaboratively with physicians, administrators, and clinical staff to maintain efficient operations. Staffing and Scheduling Prepare weekly and monthly schedules for technicians and scribes based on patient volume and clinic needs. Adjust staffing assignments as needed to address absences, schedule changes, or operational needs. Provide coverage for Practice Leads when necessary. Training and Staff Development Train and mentor new and existing clinical staff. Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure adherence to clinical protocols and operational standards. Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary action meetings with employees, in consultation with Operations Manager and HR, to address performance deficiencies and outline clear corrective steps for improvement. Coordinate training opportunities with vendors and pharmaceutical representatives. Equipment and Facility Support Monitor ophthalmic equipment to ensure it is functioning properly. Notify Operations Manager of equipment or facility maintenance needs. Serve as a liaison for equipment purchasing, repairs, installation, and training. Compliance and Safety Support clinic compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory standards. Ensure clinical areas maintain proper safety and infection control practices. Clinical Support Perform ophthalmic technician duties as needed to support clinic operations and maintain patient flow. Address operational issues that may impact daily clinic operations. Travel Travel between clinic locations as needed to support staffing, training, and operational needs. Employees must maintain a valid driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance if travel is required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an ophthalmic technician or similar clinical role. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems. Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment. Ability to effectively train, motivate, and support staff. Demonstrated commitment to treating patients and coworkers with professionalism and respect. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 25 pounds. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding, writing, and operating office or clinical equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. Occasional bending, reaching, and stooping may be required. Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.
