Technical Sales / Sales Manager Automotive Manufacturing Equipment

We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales / Sales Manager to support the launch and growth of our U.S. operations in the Midwest.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical sales, engineering, or manufacturing equipment, along with the ability to develop new business with automotive OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 suppliers.

This is a key position responsible for developing new customers, identifying business opportunities, and securing projects while working closely with the Japan headquarters. The successful candidate will also play an important role in establishing and expanding the U.S. business and will have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the local organization develops.

Essential Duties

Develop and maintain relationships with automotive OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 suppliers in the Midwest. Identify new business opportunities and actively develop new customers beyond existing accounts. Promote and sell manufacturing equipment and automation solutions based on customer requirements. Conduct technical discussions with customers and understand their production equipment and automation needs. Utilize technical knowledge to propose appropriate solutions and support the sales process from initial contact through project acquisition. Develop sales strategies and build a pipeline of potential projects and customers. Coordinate with engineering and technical teams in Japan to develop proposals and respond to customer requirements. Communicate regularly with the Japan headquarters and provide updates on sales activities, customer needs, and project status. Support the establishment and development of the U.S. operation, including future hiring and team expansion. Travel within the Midwest and to Japan as needed for customer meetings, business development, and internal meetings.

8:0017:00 (MondayFriday) Flexible working hours with adjustable start and end times Full remote work may be considered depending on the candidate's location and experience. Regular communication with the Japan headquarters (approximately 12 meetings per week). Business travel within the Midwest and occasional travel to Japan may be required.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in technical sales, engineering, manufacturing equipment, automation, or a related field. Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier 1, or Tier 2 suppliers is highly preferred. Experience working with Japanese companies or Japanese business environments is highly preferred. Proven experience in new business development and customer acquisition. Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment, factory automation, or industrial robotics. Experience with industrial robots such as Yaskawa, FANUC, Kawasaki, or similar systems is highly preferred. Ability to understand customer needs and provide technical solutions and proposals. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative in building a new business operation.

Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the Japan headquarters. Japanese/English bilingual ability is a strong plus. Engineering background combined with sales or business development experience is highly preferred. Willingness to travel within the Midwest and to Japan as needed.
