The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, seeks outstanding candidates for a full-time, academic surgeon to provide clinical care and to develop a productive research program. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Surgery by the time of hire and must have completed an accredited vascular surgery fellowship or integrated residency program by the time of hire. Candidates should be well-trained in both open and endovascular interventions. Applicants’ materials must list current, eligible, and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research program in vascular disease prevention or treatment (basic, translational, clinical, or health services in nature). This is an opportunity for an aspiring surgeon-scientist to develop an academic career, targeting recent graduates or early career faculty.

Responsibilities

• Clinical responsibilities include a primary role staffing the clinical vascular service at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center (SFVAMC).
• Participate in the divisional call schedule that includes weekday and weekend coverage across campuses.
• Protect time and support will be provided for development of an independently funded research program, dependent on the candidate’s goals and qualifications.
• Demonstrate recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and participate in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate educational programs, including scheduled lectures as part of the division’s didactic education.
• Contribute to the division’s comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for vascular disorders (e.g., peripheral artery disease, aortic aneurysm/dissection, carotid disease, hemodialysis access, venous disease) across UCSF main campus, SFVAMC, affiliated hospitals, and outreach clinics.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Surgery by the time of hire.
• Completed an accredited vascular surgery fellowship or integrated residency by time of hire.
• Well-trained in both open and endovascular interventions.
• Materials must list current, eligible, and/or pending qualifications at submission.
• Experience or potential to develop a nationally recognized research program in vascular disease prevention or treatment (basic, translational, clinical, or health services).

Salary and Benefits

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $154,700 - $240,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan with eligibility for additional compensation.
