Job Description

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment to support inpatient and outpatient procedures. They ensure compliance with infection control standards and maintain instrument integrity through proper handling and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, sterilize, and package surgical instruments according to standard protocols.
• Decontaminate and inspect instruments for damage, cleanliness, and proper function.
• Operate sterilization equipment and monitor biological and chemical indicators for efficacy.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, inventory, and tray assembly.
• Support inventory management by tracking instrument usage, scheduling preventive maintenance, and managing repairs.
• Follow safety and infection control protocols consistently across department activities.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of five years of sterile processing experience.
• Certified in CBSPD and/or CRCST credentials.
• Demonstrate proficiency in instrument decontamination, sterilization, and packing procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic instrument tracking systems is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow departmental policies.
