Registered Nurse - Postpartum Care

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, from 06:00 to 16:00. Weekend availability required to meet staffing needs.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in Postpartum Care will provide specialized care for patients in the postpartum phase, including high-risk obstetrics. The role involves managing patient needs, supporting mothers with breastfeeding, conducting assessments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and manage IV therapy.
• Monitor patient vitals and report any abnormalities.
• Provide education and support for new mothers, including breastfeeding and infant care.
• Conduct assessments and document patient progress in the electronic medical record (Epic).
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and cesarean sections as needed.
• Float to different units as necessary to meet facility needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have at least 1 year of experience in postpartum or labor and delivery nursing.
• Current CA state RN license (compact license required).
• ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS certifications required.
• Experience with blood product administration, amnioinfusion, and various postpartum procedures is preferred.
