Program Instructor - Basketball

The Pawtucket YMCA and MacColl YMCA based in RI are seeking dynamic and engaging Basketball Instructors to lead youth and teen basketball sessions while also supporting pre-school programming. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, age-appropriate basketball instruction, while creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants.The ideal candidate will have the ability to coach and develop players ages 6–teen, while also following established pre-school curriculums (ages 2–5) to help create a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experience for younger participants.Essential Functions: Lead and instruct basketball sessions for youth and teen participants, focusing on skill development, game understanding, and enjoyment of the sport. Support and deliver pre-school basketball sessions by following established curriculums designed to promote fundamental movement, coordination, and early skill development. Supervise groups of children and teens, ensuring a safe, structured, and positive environment at all times. Follow all YMCA policies, procedures, and standards, including safety protocols, behavior guidance strategies, and child abuse prevention policies; make ADA accommodations where appropriate. Plan and deliver sessions that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with YMCA values, with a focus on character development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Build positive relationships with participants by modeling strong communication and leadership skills. Create opportunities for participants to build confidence, problem-solve, and actively engage in sessions. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding participant progress and program details. Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program events as required. Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and overall program organization. Perform other duties as assigned.
