What You'll Do

• Conduct patient histories and physical exams in trauma settings
• Make assessments, diagnoses, and develop treatment plans aligned with PA regulations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapies
• Recognize urgent situations requiring immediate physician intervention
• Counsel patients on health matters, medications, and discharge planning
• Coordinate admissions, complete patient records, and manage transitions of care
• Facilitate referrals to appropriate health services
• Assist as first/second surgical assistant in trauma surgeries, including robotic-assisted procedures, under supervision
• Perform common emergency procedures such as wound care, fracture management, procedural insertions (central line, arterial line), and incision and drainage

What You Need

• Valid CA Physician Assistant license
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS (preferred)
• Trauma or critical care experience preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced emergency trauma environments
• Strong communication and patient management skills

About the Assignment

Join a Level II Trauma Center in Redding, CA, as a key member of the trauma care team. You will support a dedicated trauma surgeon, responsible for managing and discharging trauma patients, with a focus on quality care and swift response in a busy emergency setting. Support staff includes a trauma NP/PA colleague, providing a collaborative and well-resourced work environment.

Note: Surgical assist duties are not part of this role. The position supports trauma and neuro-trauma care.

Shift dates include: 09/04-09/06, 10/07, 10/11-10/14, 10/18-10/21, 10/24-10/29.
