Job Summary

An established and growing automotive repair facility in Fountain Valley, CA is seeking an experienced Auto Service Writer/Service Advisor for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a customer-focused automotive professional who understands repair procedures, communicates clearly with customers, and thrives in a fast-paced service environment.

As the primary liaison between customers and technicians, the Auto Service Writer/Service Advisor will help deliver a smooth, professional experience from vehicle drop-off through pickup. Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers professionally, listen to concerns, document vehicle symptoms, and build strong customer relationships.
- Create repair orders, prepare accurate repair estimates, and present recommended repairs for customer authorization.
- Communicate diagnostic findings, service recommendations, repair status, and completion timelines clearly and professionally.
- Coordinate workflow between customers, technicians, and the parts department to keep service operations moving efficiently.
- Schedule appointments, manage daily workflow, maintain accurate records, and ensure repair orders and invoices are complete.
- Recommend preventative maintenance and additional repairs based on vehicle condition and customer needs.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage customer communication, repair order creation, and service estimate presentation.
- Coordinate repair workflow between customers, technicians, and parts support.
- Use shop management and repair information systems to document work accurately.
- Support sales-focused service recommendations while maintaining a customer-first approach.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Automotive Service Writer, Service Advisor, or in automotive sales.
- Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, maintenance services, repair orders, and customer authorization processes.
- Hands-on experience with Mitchell 1 Shop Management Software and ProDemand Repair Information System is required.
- Experience with gasoline-powered vehicles and hybrid vehicles is preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Strong sales ability with a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced service environment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle diagnostics and repair.
- ASE Certification is a plus.
- Experience working in an independent automotive repair facility.
