Payments and Deposit Operations Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payments & Deposit Operations Specialist to join a growing banking institution. This individual will be responsible for supporting daily payment processing, deposit operations, transaction reconciliations, and operational servicing activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in banking operations, including ACH transactions, domestic and international wire transfers, deposit account maintenance, and regulatory compliance. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and monitor domestic and international wire transfers, including SWIFT and Fedwire transactions.
• Handle ACH transactions, including incoming and outgoing payments, returns, exceptions, and adjustments.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, rejected transactions, and processing errors.
• Ensure accurate and timely execution of payment transactions in accordance with established banking procedures.
• Assist with daily payment reconciliations, transaction monitoring, and operational reporting.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve payment-related inquiries and exceptions.
• Support daily deposit operations, including account maintenance, transaction processing, and deposit servicing.
• Process account adjustments, stop payments, holds, returned items, and other deposit-related transactions.
• Review and reconcile deposit transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
• Assist with check processing, remote deposit capture (RDC), and exception handling.
• Investigate and resolve deposit account discrepancies and operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to deposit accounts and transactions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in banking operations, payment processing, deposit operations, or a related financial services function.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, both written and verbal.
• Experience processing ACH transactions, domestic and international wires, and deposit-related transactions.
• Familiarity with SWIFT, Fedwire, NACHA, and general payment processing systems.
• Knowledge of deposit account servicing, reconciliations, and banking operational procedures.
• Understanding of banking regulations, including BSA/AML, OFAC, Regulation E, and Regulation CC.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience working with banking core systems and payment processing platforms.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
