Household Caretaker

Job Title: Household Caretaker Location: Prospect, Kentucky 40059 Employment Type: Part-time, 10 hours per week guaranteed Schedule: Flexible weekdays and/or weekends based on family's travel schedule (typically 1-2 weeks advance notice). This role is primarily during the family's absences, with rare overlap when the homeowner is present. Occasional availability for hosting events. Our days look different from one to the next, with schedules that can be unpredictable due to work and travel. We are seeking someone who can care for our home while we are away and ensure it is organized, comfortable, and welcoming for our return. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and thoughtful, helping maintain a household that feels smooth-running and inviting. Who You Are / What We're Looking For Reliable, trustworthy, and dependable Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and occasional last-minute requests Highly autonomous and able to work independently with minimal supervision Proactive in maintaining household organization and general upkeep Strong communication skills via text, with occasional phone calls Able to handle routine household tasks efficiently and with care Key Responsibilities Household Organization & Maintenance Maintain household organization systems and ensure the home is orderly Daily resets and prep home for bi-weekly cleaning service Light tidying: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, taking out trash Seasonal swaps for décor and bedding Holiday decorating (simple interior setups) Event and guest prep as needed Indoor plant care Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, and other basic maintenance General home upkeep and monitoring Inventory & Errands Refresh and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies Manage household supply lists as directed by homeowner Occasionally manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target) Handle returns, dry cleaning pickup, gift shopping, and other errands Mail and package handling Break down boxes Meal Support Prep snacks by chopping vegetables, preparing fruit, and making ingredients easily accessible Simple prep of meal components Grocery shopping Kitchen clean-up and maintenance Laundry & Linens Wash, fold, organize, and pickup laundry as needed Ironing, steaming, and special garment care Linen rotation Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas Vehicle Care Ensure the household vehicle is periodically started and maintained during extended absences to keep it in good condition Deep Cleaning & Special Projects Occasional deep cleaning tasks such as fridge organization and removing expired items Organizational projects including gear and storage Vendor & Property Oversight Oversee cleaners, contractors, and landscapers Coordinate vendor scheduling and ensure work is completed to standard Serve as point of contact for vendor visits Manage outdoor patio space (bring in cushions based on weather, ensure space is ready and usable) Help maintain one-bedroom apartment above garage (air out space, run water and toilets, general upkeep) This role requires a background check. #J-18808-Ljbffr
