Human Resources Generalist

HR GeneralistUnder the direction of Chief People Officer, the HR Generalist supports the HR department and employees by providing a wide range of human resources services, including but not limited to employee relations, training, onboarding, leave administration, benefits, and recruitment. This position provides tactical support including policies, procedures, onboarding processes, employee relations, benefits administration, reporting and ongoing initiatives to support the growth and planning of the organization. Additional responsibilities include supporting policy and procedure reviews, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and handling special projects. The HR Generalist will also uphold HR policies and procedures and manage the employee termination process.Duties and Responsibilities:Demonstrate a high level of competence, professionalism, and confidentiality, ensuring that information is communicated accurately, timely, and appropriatelyAssist with Human Resources communications and responds to questions regarding policies, procedures, timekeeping systems, accruals, and benefitsAssist leaders on employee relation issues including but not limited to: leave administration, employee relations, employee discipline, performance improvement plans, grievances, policy violations and termination meeting and educate leaders on policy interpretation and executionAssist and support talent acquisition and other recruitment activities including planning, organizing and attending career fairsAssist with Benefits Administration- healthcare, life insurance, etc.Lead benefit orientations and assist with open enrollment. Support payroll in benefits billing and ensure proper enrollments. Process documentation for FMLASuccessfully assist with and/or lead HR related projects including those involving a high degree of complexity, confidentiality and organizational impactAssist and provide support for all onboarding activities for assigned facilities to include reference checks, background checks, facilitating offer letters, employee file set up and maintenance, and onboarding, to ensure the organization is adding and retaining the best, most elite group of talented individuals who are also the right cultural fitParticipates in monthly and annual benefit enrollment meetings, prepare documentation, notifying participants, and coordinating enrollments with Insurance Broker / CarriersAssists with the annual open enrollment process. Be available to staff as subject matter expert for all PEC benefit plansMaintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment lawAssist with investigations and documentation of formal complaints and assists Managers with corrective actions & PIPsAssist with all administrative aspects of the leave of absence process to include ensuring all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review, tracking hours used/taken, sending timely notifications of leave approvals or denials and employee files are maintainedAssist with compliance reporting and auditsManage annual harassment training & create employee training plans as neededAssist management to develop and maintain job descriptionsAttends seminars, active participation in professional societies; reads trade publications to stay current with HR related laws and activitiesPeriodic travel to remote offices, scheduled career fairs, and other trips as requiredEnsure employee personnel files are maintained in compliance with applicable legal, state certification and licensing requirementsTravel periodically, but not on a regular or monthly basis, to remote offices, scheduled career fairs, conferences, and other trips as required or assignedOther projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretionSpecial Knowledge, skills and abilities:Proficiency in MS Office, databases and HRIS SystemsOutstanding communication and interpersonal skillsCompetence in various Human Resources functional areas; recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, and organizational developmentKnowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to Human ResourcesAbility to handle highly confidential information in a professional mannerDemonstrates an elevated level of judgment and discretionSelf-starter, with a "let's get things done" attitudeMust possess a high sense of urgency, initiative, and common senseMust act in a professional and courteous manner, and demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse group of individualsGreat attention to detailAbility to work independently, prioritizing and organizing workload to meet deadlinesStrong ability to multi-task and work well in an environment subject to changing priorities and demandsAbility to communicate with all levels within the organizationDemonstrated ability to be a team player with a positive attitudeConceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and time management skillsDisplay strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of employee relationships, staffing management and payrollEducation and Experience:Bachelors degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field is requiredMinimum of (2) years of progressive human resources experienceLicense and Certification:PHR or SHRM Certification requiredWork Environment:PEC values a healthy work environment, and we focus on working efficiently and collaboratively to ensure quality and productive work as well as quality time away from the office. Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
