Glenmar Elementary School Cafeteria Lead Middle River, MD, United States Responsibilities Assists the cafeteria manager by assuming responsibility for the successful operation of the satellite food service operation at a receiving school; oversees serving up to 400 meals per day. Serves as liaison between local school staff and the base complex manager; assists in marketing the food service programs and works with school administrative staff to encourage and maximize student participation. Assumes responsibility for and assists in the daily setup and preparation of the food service program. Prepares food based on the planned menu; checks quantities, records temperatures, and notes food condition upon arrival in accordance with sanitation, health, and Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) standards. Trains and directs other food service employees; ensures compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and food safety standards. Cleans, sanitizes, and stores equipment and supplies; scrubs counters, tables, chairs; mops/scrubs floors; and disposes of waste properly following HACCP procedures; inventories and orders food and supplies. Follows OFNS cash‑handling procedures; prepares daily cashier reports, verifies cash receipts, prepares bank deposits, reviews transactions, compares operating reports, and investigates discrepancies. Adheres to all School Nutrition Accountability Program policies and procedures, including point‑of‑sale system use. Maintains accountability for free and reduced‑priced meal transactions; ensures students are served effectively and efficiently. Dtransports supplies from the base kitchen to the satellite schools as required. Attends monthly base kitchen meetings, in‑service trainings, professional development programs, and school‑related functions; reports to any site in the base complex as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of two (2) years experience in food service. BCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services Cafeteria Lead Training preferred. BCPS food service experience preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Certified Food Service Manager–Level 1 certification is required; certifications must be maintained throughout employment. Basic knowledge of point‑of‑sale systems. Knowledge of food preparation, service, and storage practices. Proficiency with computers and required software for reports. Skill in handling cash and preparing daily deposits. Skill with food service equipment. Ability to organize, plan, and execute work with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and maintain confidential information. Ability to direct the work of others, communicate effectively orally and in writing, operate a computer, and multitask. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend and kneel regularly, stand for at least three hours consecutively, and withstand extreme temperatures of hot and cold.
