Senior Human Resources GeneralistScarsella Bros., Inc. is a family-owned heavy civil construction company that has proudly served the Pacific Northwest since 1945. We are seeking an experienced, approachable, and highly organized Senior Human Resources Generalist to support our employees and help strengthen our human resources operations.This is a hands-on position responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions and serving as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors. This individual will also serve as the company's designated Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer. The ideal candidate exercises sound judgment, communicates effectively, and is comfortable working independently across employee relations, compliance, recruiting, benefits administration, and other areas of human resources. Experience within the construction industry and familiarity with union rules and collective bargaining agreements are strongly preferred.ResponsibilitiesServe as a primary resource for employees and supervisors regarding workplace policies, employee relations, benefits, leave, and other HR mattersProvide guidance to supervisors regarding performance management, coaching, disciplinary action, and employee concernsManage employee relations matters and conduct fair, thorough, and well-documented workplace investigationsServe as the company's designated EEO Officer and help ensure compliance with applicable equal employment opportunity and affirmative action requirementsMaintain required EEO documentation and assist with compliance reviews, audits, reporting, and employee concerns or complaintsPartner with company leadership to promote a professional, inclusive, and discrimination-free workplaceAssist with the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements and applicable union requirementsWork with union representatives and company leadership regarding employee concerns, grievances, dispatch matters, and other labor-related issuesCoordinate recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processesPrepare offer letters, employment agreements, disciplinary notices, separation documents, and other employee communicationsAdminister employee leave, including FMLA, Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave, and other applicable leave programsCoordinate workplace injury and workers' compensation matters with the company's safety and risk-management personnelMaintain personnel records and ensure employee information is complete, accurate, and confidentialMonitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsReview and update employee policies, procedures, job descriptions, and the employee handbookCoordinate employee training, including harassment prevention, supervisory training, EEO training, and other compliance-related programsAssist with annual compensation reviews and wage analysisPartner with payroll and accounting personnel to ensure employee changes are communicated and processed accuratelySupport employee engagement, recognition programs, company events, and internal communicationsTrack and report relevant HR and EEO informationPerform other human resources and administrative duties as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferredThree to five years of progressive human resources experience, including experience advising supervisors and handling employee relations mattersPrevious HR experience in construction, heavy civil, manufacturing, or another field-based industry strongly preferredFamiliarity with union rules, collective bargaining agreements, labor relations, and union benefit programs preferredKnowledge of EEO, affirmative action, and federal contractor compliance requirements preferredWorking knowledge of federal and Washington employment laws and HR best practicesExperience administering employee benefits and protected leave programsStrong written communication, documentation, and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretionSound judgment and the ability to address difficult situations calmly, consistently, and fairlyStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing prioritiesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees and leadershipProficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using HRIS and payroll systemsSHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred but not requiredCompensation and BenefitsSalary range of $85,000–$110,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance premiums paid 100% by the company for the employeeDependent coverage available at an additional cost to the employeeEmployer-funded 3% safe harbor 401(k) contribution after 90 days of employmentAfter one year of employment, a 50% employer match on the first 3% of the employee's 401(k) contributions120 hours of accrued paid time offEight paid holidays each yearPosition DetailsFull-time, in-office positionOccasional travel to jobsites or regional offices may be requiredScarsella Bros., Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
