What To Expect
As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer on Tesla's General Assembly, Semi team, you will sustain, optimize, and improve advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role involves reducing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and enhancing safety and process standards. You'll become a subject matter expert on critical equipment, contributing to Tesla’s mission of building a sustainable future.
What You'll Do
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) that require international travel to validate and launch new production toolingMaintain and troubleshoot equipment to support continuous production and minimize downtimeDesign and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliabilityUses first principals’ approach and lead upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and process capabilityDevelop expertise on assigned equipment, including automation systems, to support training and troubleshootingRun ROI analysis and present engineering justification to Capex
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience Experience in high-volume manufacturing settingStrong 2D and 3D CAD design skillsetHands-on knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc), vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex), dispense systems, and conveyance systemsFamiliarity with AGVs, torque tools, dispense, fluid fill systems, and EOL testing is a plusStrong skills in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling with a focus on safety, DFM, and GD&TDemonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC, single-phase 208/120 VAC, and 24 VDC systemsProven problem-solving ability using structured methods like DMAIC, 8D, or 5 Whys, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
