The Software Engineer will support the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of a Data Dictionary capability that provides metadata specification, storage, and access services. This system includes a Java/Spring-based backend, RESTful APIs, and a web-based user interface. The engineer will work independently to implement features, contribute to architectural decisions, and support full lifecycle software delivery within a collaborative Agile environment.ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities include:Develop, maintain, and enhance Java/Spring applications supporting:A web-based user interface for creating and managing metadata specifications, including attributes and valid valuesA database solution for storing specificationsRESTful services enabling programmatic access to specificationsDesign and implement backend services and APIsContribute to system architecture, technical design, and engineering best practicesDevelop and maintain database schemas, queries, and integrationsSupport CI/CD pipelines, deployment activities, and operational readinessCollaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and system integratorsMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidanceRequired QualificationsActive TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph up front (no sponsorship available)Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical fieldFour (4) additional years of software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree, for a total of twelve (12) years of experienceMinimum of eight (8) years of software engineering experienceMinimum of three (3) years of experience in SIGINT, IA, or IT domainsMinimum of three (3) years of experience with modern Java and Spring/Spring Boot developmentExperience developing RESTful APIs and JSON-based web servicesStrong SQL and relational database experience, including PostgreSQL or equivalent technologiesExperience working in Linux development environmentsDesired QualificationsJava/J2EE application developmentSpring Framework and Spring BootPostgreSQL and SQL database designUser interface design, development, and testingREST, XML, and JSON web servicesLinux-based systemsDocker and KubernetesCI/CD pipelines and deployment automationTask tracking and ticketing systems such as JIRA or RedmineClear, professional communication of technical ideas, status, and issues to both peers and managementAt Leidos, the opportunities are boundless.
