What you will do Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of systems, including detailed troubleshooting. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on‑site customer interface. Mentor control, service, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Complete required project and service documentation accurately. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Act as a trusted advisor by providing timely solutions during service visits. Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, test and write modifications in multiple system‑software languages. Consult with customers based on data gathered and site assessments. Supply field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment. Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads. Manage work assignments to meet professional and efficient execution standards. Report problems or changes to management immediately. Coordinate with branch manager, service manager, project manager, or subcontractors on projects. Create sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. Assist with job layouts and bid proposals as required. Interact with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Maintain high customer satisfaction and meet regularly with customers to understand operating problems. Keep customers informed on service nature, outstanding issues, and recommend upgrades or replacements. Promote the sale of add‑on work. Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provide safety leadership and instruction to all controls technicians in the branch. Offer safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors. Train customers in control systems operations and deliver manuals and documentation as required. Mentor Controls and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems and coach mechanical workforce on non‑complex, non‑critical equipment. Compile job documentation, including certificates of completion, training forms, and punch lists. Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines. Complete certifications as required by the company. Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems per contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as needed. Assist in development and testing of software programs to operate the system per project requirements. Compile and complete project as‑built and close‑out documentation. Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Program and configure control systems and devices such as PLCs, DDC controllers, and variable frequency drives. Assist in loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers. Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades. Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, laptops, and specialized software for system analysis. Provide field change information to the project team for creation of as‑built drawings and software. Keep management and contractors or customers informed of job progress and issues. Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system. Participate in release meetings with project field team. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Coordinate with managers and subcontractors on projects in an ethical and professional manner. Create sketches and field change documentation for engineering corrections. Assist with job layouts and bid proposals as needed. Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the service visit. Keep customers updated on service progress and recommend system enhancements and replacements. Promote additional work and recommend upgrades. Ensure compliance with all safety standards and lead safety training. Train customers on system operations and hand over necessary documentation. Mentor technicians on control systems and mechanical equipment. Compile all required job documentation, including certificates and punch lists. Continuously self‑study to improve technical proficiency. Complete required certifications. What we look for Graduation from a two‑year vocational program, an associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years’ experience servicing electronic or mechanical systems. Experience installing and/or servicing electronic control systems and HVAC equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC control systems, interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. General computer and networking knowledge, including basic IT networking concepts. Effective communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong written communication and familiarity with relevant software applications. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedules, and work independently or within a team. Willingness to stay updated on new technologies, equipment, and industry standards. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and related subsystems. HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29.13/Hour‑40.09/Hour (Hourly rate to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
