Assistant Disbursements Manager

Primary Purpose Of Position The Assistant Disbursements Manager serves as a leader within the Accounts Payable section of the University Accounting Office. Position Overview Working closely with the Disbursements Manager, this position ensures that financial transactions and accounts payable operations are performed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and UNC System regulations. The role also assists with implementing cash‑management policies, payroll processing, and developing a proactive approach to meet payment policies and terms while providing exceptional customer service. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience. Strong personal computer and business solutions software (e.g., Banner Finance) skills. Ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, auditors, and provide clear and concise information related to accounts payable or payroll records. Ability to manage and organize large volumes of records, both physical and electronic, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements. Attributes and Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records. Capable of handling complex vendor issues with accurate information according to compliance regulations. Proactive and results‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and in team settings. Ability to effectively communicate, particularly in explaining complex accounts payable concepts to employees and senior management. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment with unplanned interruptions. Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies. Work Location On‑site.
