Your Specific Responsibilities: The selected candidate will serve as a key decision-maker, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and subject matter expertise to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of public health accreditation efforts. You'll collaborate with dedicated professionals, influence strategic initiatives, and help shape the future of public health excellence. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to serve as the Accreditation Section Manager within the Bureau of Community Health Assessment. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Department's public health accreditation efforts, ensuring continued compliance with the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards and maintaining the Department's accredited status. This position combines program leadership, staff supervision, stakeholder engagement, and quality improvement oversight, with a strong emphasis on maintaining and advancing compliance with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following: This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This is a leadership position in which the incumbent has the responsibility to make decisions and/or take actions of a leadership nature as the need arises. The incumbent spends time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating community health assessment programs and planning and directing growth of the program at both the local and state level. Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and disciplinary action, if needed. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training. The incumbent shall plan, monitor, and evaluate accreditation activities. This includes developing, conducting, and evaluating regional and individualized training workshops for county health department staff and community partners on the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Standards and Measures and other relevant information, coordinating with and providing consultations, guidance and ongoing technical assistance to the State Health Office and other programs, community agencies and coalitions, county health departments on implementing evidence based practices that support the demonstration of meeting accreditation standards. Serves as lead contact and project liaison for county health department and department staff for PHAB. Activities include encouraging networking at the local, state, and national levels, promoting the use of PHAB as a tool for standardizing public health practice and processes across departments, presenting at county, regional, state, and national conferences and meetings, serving on task forces and planning committees as appropriate. Responsible for the facilitation of the PHAB Accreditation and annual reporting processes. Coordinates and monitors accreditation implementation throughout the Agency. Fosters communications, collaboration, sharing, and training among accreditation coordinators and other public health practitioners in Florida. Monitors progress towards achieving and retaining PHAQB accreditation status. Develops required documents for grant application and reporting. Assists with the development of departmental policies, standards, protocols, program designs, manuals, and reports. Staffs and coordinates meetings to assist in the development and monitoring of statewide projects. Coordinates meetings between departments, programs and agencies to promote collaboration of mutual activities. Represents the Department of Health at local, state, and national meetings and conferences, task forces, and workgroups. Attends local and state policy meetings regarding health care services. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by program activities. Complies with and monitors compliance (when applicable) of the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422, F.S., and Chapter 3A-24, F.A.C. Participates in and attends educational opportunities to further enhance personal and professional development. Other duties as assigned. - Ability to clearly communicate expectations, assignments, and complex information
- Capacity to analyze data, interpret findings, and develop actionable recommendations
- Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and delegate work effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Public health or social services
- Performance management or quality improvement
- Strategic planning or systems analysis
- Program/policy development, monitoring, or evaluation
- Demonstrated experience applying research and evaluation methods, including:
- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
- Identifying trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Developing evidence-based recommendations and performance strategies
- A master's degree in public health, public administration, social sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Experience working with or within county health departments or similar public health organizations.
