About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year in specialty License: Required state licensure or compact license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience Patient ratio experience of 4-5 Charting system experience (Epic preferred) Community hospital experience preferred Description: UNIT DETAILS: Weekend: Every other weekend required Call: None required Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year required in specialty, first-time travelers accepted. Full compliance is required to start on time. If not compliant in time, the pushback is 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule. Travelers are expected to work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period. If one major holiday falls during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work both holidays. If three major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics Daily Census: 28 patients Patient Ratios: 4 patients per nurse on daytime and nighttime shifts Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Core competencies required: Accessing and managing ports BiPAP/CPAP management Blood product administration Cardiac telemetry Central line care/management CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) Feeding tube care and management High flow nasal cannula Interpretation of arterial blood gases Management of dysrhythmias PICC line management Post cardiac angiogram and post-MI care Pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post hemodialysis management Pre/post neurosurgery management Telemetry monitoring Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips Wound care management Use of rapid response/code teams Candidates must complete core items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing. All compliance documents are due by Tuesday prior to the start date. Modules must be completed during orientation and vary by specialty. Modules are recorded via transcripts.
