7D Van Driver

The Canton Public Schools is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as an 7D Van Driver starting in August 2026 . Job Summary:


Transport students with disabilities from their homes to the schools they attend. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with youth, values safety, and wants to have a positive impact on the community. Job Responsbilities include:

• Drive district special education students between home and school
• Help students get on and off the bus according to their individual needs
• Monitor student behavior to maintain a safe environment
• Communicate effectively with management, school faculty members, teachers, parents, students, and fellow drivers

Job Qualifications:


Knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs and related information; excellant driving record, knowledge of computer software applications to produce written reports; ability to work with children of different ages and development, and knowledge to perform basic maintenance on the bus.

Requirements:

• A Massachusetts 7D School Transport license must be obtained prior to the start date. This license can be applied for by anyone over twenty-one years of age with a minimum of three continuous years as a licensed motor vehicle operator. Canton Public Schools will reimburse for the cost of obtaining the 7D license.
• Must complete District provided basic first aid, epi pen and CPR training.
• The 7D Driver is required to attend school sponsored Crisis Prevention Intervention training in the event of student restraint and any other training as required by the Canton Public Schools.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle record check, criminal background check and fingerprinting. (Fingerprinting is at own expense)

Compensation and Work Conditions:


Approximately upto 35 Hours Per Week. 7D license training provided.


Split shift with morning hours between 6AM-9:30AM and afternoon hours between 1:30PM-5:00PM. (depending upon student needs these exact times/hours may shift)


No nights, holiday's or weekends. Summer, school vacation weeks, and other charter runs when available are optional.
