Operate and maintain equipment. Transport crew and equipment to/from jobsite.**REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:*** Reports To: Senior Manager, Mechanical; Manager, Mechanical Services (indirectly)* Supervises: N/A**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**1. Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Association of American Railroads (AAR) and company operating standards2. Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear or locomotive components3. Perform service on locomotives such as fueling and daily inspections4. Rivet, bolt, glue, braze or weld to fabricate, modify or design replacement parts for equipment5. Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials6. Move locomotives within mechanical department limits7. Participate in group discussions including unit meetings, job briefings, safety meetings or process reviews8. Complete and maintain mechanical documentation such as summaries and maintenance reports9. Receive instructions, requests, orders, and information from posted bulletins, memorandums, rules and regulation manuals10. Operate equipment necessary to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear or locomotive components11. Assist Lead, as directed**Employment Conditions:*** Work safely, follow standard procedures, be alert and take necessary precautions to prevent on the job accidents and injuries* Wear required protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses* Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek (overtime, various shift work and be on call during the week, weekend and holidays outside of normal scheduled hours)* Complete annual training and pass safety rules examinations* May require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol* Must pass and maintain all required assessments, certifications and licenses* Must pass a background screening* This is a safety sensitive position.
