Qualifications High School diploma or GED Ability to work a flexible schedule Interest in making a difference in the world Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable Primary Responsibilities Assist in determining the suitability of donors. Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while maintaining donor confidentiality. Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions. Monitor donor and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality. Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines. Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment. Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in a plasma center, with exposure to biological fluids, potential infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F while working in a plasma freezer. Protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear are required. Tasks include standing for 6 to 8 hours per day, bending and twisting the neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day, frequent hand and foot movements, lifting up to 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs, and maintaining hearing and color vision acuity. Instructions are typically provided orally or in writing; sensitive information must be relayed to diverse groups.
