Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable floating to other units and managing a full patient load. Description: This position is for an ICU Registered Nurse in a critical care environment. The unit has 20 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 to 2. Staff may be deployed to other departments to care for patients. Response time is required within 30 minutes if put on standby. Cancellation policies allow for up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Weekend requirements include two weekends every four weeks. Holiday coverage will be based on unit needs. Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips. Strong IV skills are essential as there is an IV team. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Charge nurses will serve as resources and do not take patients. Patients commonly diagnosed include sepsis, DKA, COPD, and others recovering from surgery. Knowledge of the ABCDE bundle and ventilators is preferred. Floating to other floors will be required, including tele and med-surg units. Orientation includes two shifts in the ICU and one shift on another unit. Basic critical care course is preferred.
