Patient Care Technician II

Under the direction of professional nursing staff, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing blood draws, collecting specimen samples, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). This position entails monitoring and accurately documenting patient status, facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and enhancing patient safety through fall prevention and strict adherence to safety protocols. Key responsibilities include wound care, catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, EKG operation, and providing support with enteral feedings and respiratory treatments under supervision. The technician works collaboratively with the healthcare team, mentors junior staff, participates in patient rounding, responds promptly to alarms, and actively contributes to optimizing patient outcomes while maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment. Additional duties encompass post-mortem care, orthopedic device management, and ensuring patient comfort and efficient care flow throughout service delivery.

The Patient Care Technician II position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. One year of prior experience is preferred. Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a team, and the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple duties in stressful situations. Proficiency in using computer systems is essential. Additionally, the role demands competency in performing delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to diverse patient needs, accurate blood glucose testing and documentation, and adherence to aseptic techniques with accountability.
