About the Role The Senior Portfolio Accountant is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of property management accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. This role requires a strategic thinker who is also a strong team player, working collaboratively across departments to drive financial performance and support the organization's goals. Responsibilities Manages and oversees a portfolio of client accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for financial matters. Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Develops, implements, and maintains recordkeeping and accounting systems, leveraging current computer technology. Conducts month-end and year-end close processes; prepares budget and financial forecasts. Publishes financial statements in a timely manner and develops periodic reports for management. Collects, analyzes, and summarizes account information across assigned portfolio. Audits financial transactions and documents accounting control procedures. Reports to management and clients regarding the finances of assigned accounts. Partners cross-functionally with operations, leasing, and maintenance teams to support seamless account management. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and recommends solutions to business and financial problems. Keeps current with financial policies, regulations, and legislation. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; Associate’s degree with significant relevant experience considered. Minimum of three to five years of experience in accounting or property management finance; prior portfolio management experience strongly preferred. Required Skills Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, ResMan, or similar) is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
