Company Description: The Prison Flow Project is dedicated to advancing justice for menstruators in places of confinement across the United States. As one of the few organizations focused on this issue, it provides critical information and resources on a topic that has long been overlooked. We fight for justice for vulnerable menstruators through advocacy, community-led research, and support for further research on periods in places of confinement. We value equity, rigor, and collaboration, offering interns the opportunity to contribute to impactful, research-informed advocacy in a specialized field of social justice.

Role Description: The Executive Board Member is a part-time, remote leadership role. This role is responsible for helping define organizational strategy, guiding program priorities, and ensuring that the mission and values of The Prison Flow Project are reflected in day-to-day operations. Key activities include participating in board meetings, collaborating with other board members on governance and compliance, and providing oversight on research, advocacy, and community engagement initiatives. The Executive Board Member will also support fundraising efforts, cultivate partnerships with allied organizations, and serve as an ambassador for the organization in public and stakeholder-facing settings. This role works closely with other board members, volunteers, and partners to strengthen organizational capacity and long-term impact. Members serve three year terms with the option for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings are held quarterly.

Suggested Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit governance, organizational leadership, or board service, with the ability to provide strategic guidance and oversight.
• Background in social justice, criminal legal reform, public health, gender justice, or related fields, with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse communities, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with fundraising, donor relations, or resource development, including support for grant-writing, campaigns, and partnership cultivation.
• Familiarity with research, policy analysis, or advocacy methods, and the capacity to interpret findings for decision-making and public education.
• Ability to serve in a remote, part-time leadership role, with flexibility to attend remote events, meetings, and community engagements as needed.
• Prior experience working with or in organizations focused on incarcerated or marginalized communities is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as law, public policy, social work, public health, or nonprofit management preferred.
• Familiarity with small non-profits in the early stages.
