Vice President, Investment Banking / Consumer Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

The IB team advises on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), capital raises, restructurings and special situations. The team delivers bespoke solutions to transactions with direct exposure to firm leadership and clients. The Vice President, IB // Consumer M&A role offers an opportunity to support the execution and delivery of workflows necessary to consummate transactions for middle-market clients, including exposure to various investment banking services such as mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private placements of debt and equity securities, and other financial advisory services. Responsibilities Work with the Portage Point team (Associates to Managing Directors) to execute all deliverables necessary to consummate transactions for middle-market clients, primarily on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions Play an integral role on IB teams, provide execution support primarily for sell-side M&A, as well as occasional buy-side mandates, private placements and other financial advisory services Lead the preparation of company valuations, financial models, company marketing documents and client presentations, and perform research and analyses in support of new business generation Create and present internal and external client deliverables Support the creation of client marketing materials (Teasers, Confidential Information Presentations, Management Presentations) for prospective investors Aid with the management of, and compliance with, all administrative standard operating procedures associated with a transaction Provide professional development coaching to junior team members Share and manage best practices and lead internal trainings where required Support business development efforts while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program Located or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia Invested in a team-based culture that involves in-office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed Seven plus years of experience working for a top-tier investment bank at the Associate or Vice President level is preferred Strong financial modeling skills and an excellent grasp of corporate finance and valuation methodologies including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables Series 79 and 63 licensing preferred or the ability to obtain within 120 days of employment Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, private equity firms, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting Eagerness to be responsive at all times Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit $400,000 - $600,000 a year In accordance with pay transparency laws in the City of New York and the State of California, Portage Point provides a good-faith cash compensation range for this position. This range represents the cash compensation (base plus bonus) that the firm reasonably expects to pay upon hire, based on good-faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The final compensation within this range will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, education, training, experience and location. In addition to cash compensation, Portage Point may offer comprehensive benefits and equity participation, which are not reflected in the pay range above.
