Senior Accounting Manager

Bishop & Company is partnering with a well-established, locally headquartered grocery retail organization to recruit a Senior Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and financial close activities. This role oversees general ledger, financial reporting, and compliance, while serving as a key partner to leadership and cross-functional teams. The Senior Accounting Manager will lead a high-performing accounting team, oversee an offshore expense function, and drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and internal controls. Grocery and/or Retail experience is highly preferred. What You’ll Do Lead end-to-end accounting operations, including general ledger, inventory, fixed assets, capital projects, and intercompany activity Own the quarterly close process and ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting Prepare and support audits, serving as a primary liaison to external auditors and tax partners Lead, mentor, and develop internal accounting staff and an offshore expense team Strengthen internal controls, streamline processes, and identify automation opportunities Partner with leadership to deliver clear financial insights and support decision-making What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in leadership Experience supporting $100M+ revenue environments and complex operations Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls Hands-on experience with Sage, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), and Excel Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments Grocery and/or Retail experience highly preferred Hybrid work arrangement (office and remote) Extended hours during quarter-end, year-end, and audit cycles Starting salary range: $100,000–$110,000 , depending on experience and background Bishop & Company is a proud local firm providing recruitment services throughout Hawaii.
