Wage/Pay Rate: Scale 3: $20.21/hr – $25.24/hr FLSA Status: Non‑exempt Effective Start Date: School Year 2026-2027 Position Summary Prepares and serves food in accordance with USDA, Maryland Health Department, and Calvert County Health Department regulations and Calvert County Public Schools policies and procedures. Education, Certification and Experience High school diploma, GED certificate, or Maryland high school certificate of attendance ServSafe Certification preferred Special Requirements None Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Knowledge of food services and kitchen sanitation procedures Knowledge of computerized point of sale and/or cash handling experience Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a variety of age groups (Pre‑K through Grade 12) Ability to perform tasks described in responsibilities (alternative qualifications acceptable) Demonstrated success in accomplishing analogous tasks Essential Job Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties Prepare and serve food using proper portions per district, state, and USDA regulations Work rapidly and efficiently in performing tasks Work effectively with school personnel and students Operate and clean all kitchen equipment in the cafeteria Apply and maintain high standards of sanitation and personal hygiene Accept money and operate point‑of‑sale computer system during serving time Store food and supplies per instructions and assist in inventory Ensure all activities conform to district guidelines Maintain food safety in compliance with local health department regulations Fill in for Cafeteria Manager/Assistant Manager if needed Attend staff development training Assist in all areas of the school food service program as directed Think, concentrate, and interact positively with others Come to work regularly and promptly Work under stress and meet all deadlines Other Job Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties Perform related work as required or assigned by the principal, supervisor of Child Nutrition, cafeteria manager, or designee. Physical and Psychological Conditions / Demands Exert moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying food items up to 50 pounds, frequent reaching and bending Stand and walk on hard flooring for long periods Operate commercial food service equipment Work in varying kitchen temperatures Use commercial chemical cleaning agents Unusual Demands May be subject to a flexible work schedule.
