Accounting Specialist
Location: Bridgeport, CT Work Arrangement: Onsite Employment Type: Full-Time Pay: $26-29/hour
Our client, a well-established company in the Bridgeport area, is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join their team. This role will support the day-to-day accounting functions of the business, with a strong focus on QuickBooks Online, Excel, reconciliations, and general accounting support.
The company is open to considering candidates at different experience levels, from someone earlier in their accounting career with a solid foundation to a more experienced accounting professional who can step in and work independently.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day accounting activities using QuickBooks Online
- Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Perform bank and account reconciliations and research discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain accurate financial records using double-entry accounting principles
- Utilize Excel for reconciliations, schedules, reporting, and financial tracking
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with additional accounting and administrative needs as they arise
Qualifications
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience required
- Solid understanding of journal entries, debits, credits, and double-entry accounting
- Experience with AP/AR and account reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, PivotTables, formulas, and spreadsheet management
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within construction, electrical, contracting, or a similar industry
- Payroll experience
- SharePoint or other cloud-based software experience
