Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Senior Video Producer advances the university’s brand,reputation, and storytelling efforts through exceptional visualcontent creation. Working within Strategic Marketing andCommunications, this position serves as an experienced individualcontributor responsible for producing high-impact video contentthat supports enrollment, advancement, public relations, marketing,executive communications, and institutional storytellinginitiatives. The Senior Video Producer independently leads complex productionsfrom concept through final delivery through advancedcinematography, editing, motion graphics, and visual storytelling.This role requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to shapecompelling narratives from interview-driven content, and thetechnical expertise to execute full-scale productions. The position is in-person, five days a week at Chapman University’sOrange campus and reports to the Associate Creative Director. Responsibilities Advanced Video Production and Storytelling Works in a highly integrated, high-performing team environment tocreate high-quality video content that supports university-widestorytelling initiatives. Responsibilities include: Independently produce, shoot, and edit high-quality videocontent that advances the University’s brand, reputation,enrollment goals, and institutional storytelling initiatives,serving audiences across all university departments. Lead all phases of assigned productions, including creativeplanning, storyline development, production logistics, filming,audio capture, lighting, editing, motion graphics, colorcorrection, sound design, and final delivery. Develop narrative structures and storytelling approaches frominterviews, source footage, creative briefs, and productionmaterials. Create long-form and short-form stories optimized for differentaudiences and distribution channels, including social media,websites, digital campaigns, and presentations. Determine production approaches, visual treatments, interviewstrategies, and editorial techniques that best achieve projectgoals and elicit strong soundbites that are key messagingaligned. Independently manage complex productions from concept throughdelivery and maintain exceptional standards for visual quality,pacing, storytelling, technical execution, and audienceengagement Advanced Post-Production & Creative Execution Performs advanced post-production work and creative execution toensure high-quality final deliverables across multiple channels andaudiences. Responsibilities include: Perform advanced editing, color correction, audio mixing,motion graphics development, visual effects, and finishing forfinal delivery. Create visual treatments, graphics packages, title sequences,and other creative assets that enhance storytellingeffectiveness. Apply strong editorial judgment when selecting footage,refining story structure, pacing content, and shaping finalnarratives. Deliver content in multiple formats, aspect ratios, andtechnical specifications for web, social, digital advertising,presentation, and broadcast environments. Efficiently implement feedback while maintaining creativeintegrity and production quality. Maintain consistency with university brand standards and visualstorytelling principles. Collaborate with writers, designers, photographers, marketers,and communications professionals to create integrated storytellingexperiences. Scout locations on and around our campuses and makerecommendations for ideal interview and environmental shotlocations, applying knowledge of visual storytelling and ouruniversity’s sense of place. Project Coordination & Asset Management Supports efficient production operations and ensures continuity ofvideo assets and workflows. Responsibilities include: Maintain organized project files, footage, metadata, andproduction assets according to departmental standards. Ensure proper storage, backup, and archival preparation ofcompleted projects. Support efficient production workflows that facilitatecollaboration across the creative team. Coordinate production logistics, schedules, equipmentpreparation, locations, and project resources for assignedproductions. Ensure compliance with applicable copyright, licensing,release, and content usage requirements Technical Expertise & Team Contribution Proactively contributes to continuous improvement across videoproduction efforts. Responsibilities include: Maintain advanced expertise in cinematography, editing, motiongraphics, lighting, audio production, and post-productionworkflows. Identify opportunities to improve production quality,efficiency, and creative execution. Remain up to date and forward looking on the use of newtechnologies and innovations to improve the quality, effectiveness,and efficiency of video production. Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni,external partners, and institutional stakeholders Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education andprofessional experience. 5-8 or more years of professional experience in videography,cinematography, video editing, multimedia production, or relatedcreative fields. Demonstrated expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe AfterEffects, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced storytelling,cinematography, editing, motion graphics, and post-productioncapabilities. Experience independently producing content from concept tofinal delivery for a range of platforms and audiences. Experience developing narrative-driven content from interviewsand documentary-style footage. Demonstrated ability to produce video content for publicrelations, media relations, and institutional communicationsaudiences. Advanced knowledge of camera systems, audio equipment,lighting, and production workflows. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multipleprojects simultaneously and quickly. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communicationskills. Ability to work effectively under deadlines and adapt tochanging priorities while maintaining high-quality standards. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed forinstitutional events and productions. Desired Qualifications Experience in higher education, nonprofit, agency, media, orbrand marketing environments. Experience creating content for executive communications,advancement campaigns, enrollment marketing, or public relationsinitiatives. Experience with digital asset management systems, includingPhotoshelter. Experience developing content strategies for multi-channeldistribution.
