School-based Occupational Therapist - OT

Job Summary Occupational Therapist (School-Based, Part-Time), Dallas, TX
- Position: Part-time school-based Occupational Therapist (OT) for 2026-2027 school year in Dallas; covers multiple schools (to be determined).
- Work Setting: Combination of in-school and work-from-home responsibilities.
- Primary Duties:
- Conduct OT evaluations and re-evaluations for students referred via special education.
- Assess fine/visual motor, sensory processing, adaptive, and functional skills affecting academic performance.
- Prepare evaluation reports, recommendations, and participate in multidisciplinary eligibility assessments.
- Develop and implement measurable OT goals and objectives as part of IEP process.
- Attend ARD meetings and collaborate with special education teams.
- Provide direct/indirect OT services in individual, group, and classroom environments.
- Develop and implement interventions for fine motor, sensory, handwriting, self-care, classroom participation, and adaptive equipment needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families.
- Provide recommendations for accommodations, equipment, and environmental modifications.
- Train school staff and families on OT strategies.
- Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Texas OT license (required), NBCOT registration preferred.
- School-based experience and knowledge of special education processes preferred.
- Experience with children/adolescents with diverse disabilities preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OT principles, assessments, and interventions.
- Understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and educational service models.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and schedules effectively.
- Commitment to educational equity and student-centered practices.
- Physical Requirements:
- Provide services in various school settings.
- Lift, position, and assist students as needed.
- Use adaptive equipment and materials.
- Travel between assigned campuses as necessary.
