Description

The Collection Equipment Operator operates commercial sanitation equipment such as a front loader truck, side loader truck, knuckleboom truck, roll-off truck, and related equipment in order to provide prompt service to all residential and commercial customers of the City's Sanitation Division.

Examples of Duties

• Collects solid waste from various locations and delivers to disposal facility;
• Inputs route information into an electronic data recording device;
• Reviews data for complete and accurate information;
• Performs minor maintenance on collection containers;
• Cross trains in order to learn how to use different equipment;
• Participates in scheduling work and sanitation routes as necessary;
• Performs equipment inspection and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment;
• Checks oil levels, greases joints, and checks fluid levels; cleans vehicles and equipment;
• Cleans, washes, and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles;
• Completes required documentation on daily activities/routes and forwards to supervision/clerical staff as required;
• Inspects waste for flammable and hazardous substances and notifies supervisor if found;
• Receives customer complaints and requests and relays to supervision;
• Assists with training of other collection equipment operators as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Two (2) years of experience in a related field;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
• Valid State of Georgia Class "B" CDL Driver's License.

The selected candidate must complete the following requirements prior to starting work with the City of Statesboro:
