Position Summary

The Cook supports the Food Services team by preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for camp guests, staff, and volunteers. This role carries primary responsibility for hands-on food preparation and service while following established menus, recipes, and food safety procedures. The Cook contributes to a Christ-centered, service-oriented kitchen environment that reflects hospitality, teamwork, and faithful stewardship.

Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Service

Prepare meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.

Assist with food preparation for all meals, snacks, and special events as scheduled.

Ensure meals are served on time and presented in a clean, appealing manner.

Support accommodation of special dietary needs or allergies as directed.

Kitchen Operations & Team Support

Follow the directions from the Food Services Manager and Food Services Coordinator.

Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and volunteers to ensure smooth meal service.

Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating food supplies according to procedures.

Support daily kitchen setup, breakdown, and clean-up.

Food Safety & Sanitation

Follow all state, federal, and local food safety and sanitation regulations.

Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep, storage, and dining areas.

Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work surfaces after use.

Promptly report sanitation concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues.

Guest Experience & Ministry Support

Serve guests with a welcoming, hospitable, and servant-hearted attitude.

Contribute to a positive dining experience that supports the mission of Life Action Camp.

Assist with special events or hospitality needs as assigned.

Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics

Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety practices.

Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and established procedures.

Strong teamwork skills with a positive, teachable attitude.

Clear and respectful communication with staff, volunteers, and guests.

Willingness to work in a camp setting with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desire to glorify God through faithful service in a ministry environment.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for extended periods in a busy kitchen environment.

Physical ability to lift, bend, stoop, and carry items up to 40 lbs.

Ability to work safely around kitchen equipment, hot surfaces, and cleaning chemicals.

Compensation
The salary for this position will be based on the Ministry Partner Development (MPD) funds that are raised. After a goal for salary is determined, the ministry will provide resources and training to help reach that goal.
The business expenses will be covered by Life Action Ministries.
