Geographic Information Systems Analyst - Information Technology I

Job Summary The Pima County Information Technology Department is seeking a highly motivated Geographic Information Systems Analyst I. The role works in an in‑office environment in Tucson, Arizona and requires a full‑time presence (no remote work). The position contributes to GIS services for many county departments, using Esri tools such as ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Geodatabases, and web‑based applications. Visa sponsorship is not available. Essential Functions Perform geospatial data building, modeling and analysis with advanced spatial manipulation or cartographic procedures. Design and coordinate the integration of GIS spatial databases with non‑spatial enterprise business databases. Develop and implement quality control procedures for GIS processes, procedures, services and products. Design and prepare cartographic representations of GIS data, including web‑based mapping systems. Evaluate and recommend GIS software, hardware and peripheral equipment to management. Lead and train GIS technicians or related staff in analytical procedures. Enter and maintain GIS database data, including coordinate geometry, tabular data, digitization and conversion of other digital sources. Compile required GIS data for map preparation (imagery, survey notes, records, reports, original maps). Provide technical support to users regarding GIS databases, applications and data collection devices. Identify and compile GIS database information to support creation of maps and applications in response to requests. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, cartography, geography or related field. Or two (2) years of experience as a GIS Technician with Pima County. Qualified education and experience documented in the application. Preferred Qualifications Experience creating and editing GIS data and metadata. Experience developing and managing GIS applications (web mapping, dashboards, mobile data collection, backend support). Familiarity with Esri products such as ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Dashboards, Survey123, Field Maps, Navigator for ArcGIS, and Dragon2Map or SiteScan. Programming experience in scripts and legacy code migration (Python, Model Builder, JavaScript, SQL, Arcade). Experience training staff and troubleshooting GIS products and applications. Licensing and Certifications Valid Arizona Class D driver’s license required at time of appointment. Completion of a satisfactory background investigation and motor‑vehicle record review (39months). Physical Requirements Constantly operate a computer and office machinery. Frequently remain in a stationary position and occasionally move office equipment weighing up to 25pounds.
