Sonographer - OB/GYN

We are seeking a qualified Sonographer - Ultrasound to join Ochsner LSU Health. This role involves performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists, adhering to safety protocols, and serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures independently following established protocols. Assist radiologists in guided procedures across various settings. Review and ensure the quality of imaging before transmission. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and perform quality control procedures. Manage departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance. Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and respecting their privacy. Qualifications Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (within 1 year of hire). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. 2 years of sonographer experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in computer applications and software. Effective communication skills. Knowledge of abdominal anatomy and pathology. Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays. Physical and Environmental Demands This role involves medium physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous environments.
