Registered Nurse (RN)

An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Tele Float Pool unit, specializing in telemetry and acute care. The position is for night shifts and requires flexibility to float between units.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the MedSurg/Tele Float Pool unit, ensuring high-quality treatment and safety.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips for patients.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV drips as prescribed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in unit activities, including charge nurse responsibilities when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a telemetry or MedSurg environment.
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS.
• Basic arrhythmia course certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips.

Work Details

• Shift length: 12 hours, with rotations that require working every other weekend and holidays as part of the permanent staff rotation.
• Orientation includes 1 hour specific to the unit with additional tele orientation as needed.
• Utilize Cerner PowerChart as the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Patient-to-nurse ratios will range from 1:8 to 1:36, depending on staffing levels.
• Must be comfortable with care for patients with common diagnoses such as ESRD, DM, COPD, and alcohol-related issues.

• This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
• Floating to other units may be required; therefore, familiarity with telemetry nursing is essential.
