Manager, External Manufacturing

Responsibilities Oversee a footprint of External Manufacturers supporting the Enabling Tech platform to deliver business process improvements, analytics, insights, risk management, supplier development, best‑in‑class lead time and process from purchasing to goods receipt, and NPI launch readiness. Foster and advance relationships within the DPS franchise to ensure each EM’s operational capabilities, including risk profile, meet the objectives of the value streams. Manage medical device supply performance, including service, supplier performance, planning, inventory, capacity, quality, compliance and cost optimization. Lead the resolution of short‑term supply issues and implement proactive risk mitigation activities for finished goods manufacturing, collaborating with internal support functions (R&D, Quality, Plan, Technical Operations, Regulatory). Identify, execute and monitor continuous improvement initiatives in agility, reliability and cost reduction (lead time reduction, network change, source transfer, Kanban agreement). Lead S&OP meetings with partners for mid‑to‑long‑term synchronization of supply and demand. Make decisions on supplier capability and oversee prioritization/execution of supplier change requirements with all functions, aligned with Value Stream Leadership. Support New Product Launch while monitoring supplier capability through scenario‑planning approach. Partner with Source Category Management to ensure sourcing strategy for supplier sites is developed and implemented. Qualifications BA/BS degree in a Business‑related field, Supply Chain, Logistics Sciences or Engineering. Minimum 6 years of direct experience in Supplier Relationship Management, Planning or Manufacturing Operations, preferably in the medical device industry. Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally. Track record of coaching, mentoring and developing direct reports. Strong written and oral communication, influencing and negotiation skills. Background in Operational Excellence (Lean / Six‑Sigma) preferred. Firm understanding of E2E supply chain with emphasis on Planning and constraint theory. Positive, customer‑focused collaborative approach to problem solving. Ability to develop data, leverage metrics and analytics for continuous improvement insights. Ability to work independently and with urgency in a global matrixed environment. 10‑20% travel required.
