About the Position

Job Title: Medical Surgical Oncology RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS required, ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration preferred Must-Have: Travelers must be willing to obtain the chemotherapy certification prior to or during the assignment. Candidates must have experience in an inpatient setting, including Med/Surg, colostomy care, and managing intravenous access. Call coverage and weekend shifts are required. Description: This unit cares for patients receiving chemotherapy. The team is seeking travelers who are either chemotherapy certified or willing to obtain certification. Certification can be obtained prior to starting the assignment or during the assignment with onsite training provided. Travel staff will be expected to work in emergency situations or during catastrophes. Contract staff may be required to float to similar units as needed. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:6. The unit cares for patients with general medical-surgical diagnoses and chemotherapy administration procedures. Required skills include the administration of chemotherapy, blood product administration, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Travelers will be part of a supportive team and have access to ongoing oncology education. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is mandatory. Candidates must be prepared to work additional shifts if called out. Staffing ratios may increase during periods of high patient census.
