Learn more at Job Description Position Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for the design and development of HVAC systems and controls for passenger rail transit vehicles. The primary objectives are to deliver HVAC systems on-time, within budget, and in compliance with specifications, while achieving high customer satisfaction and managing risk. Responsibilities Design system concepts and perform system calculations, develop schematics (piping diagrams), and provide integration and commissioning support. Prepare technical proposals and develop system specifications and documentation (system descriptions, tests, analyses). Create and maintain system bill of materials, provide costing/weight estimates, and monitor specification compliance with waivers as required. Support internal teams with documentation reviews, customer feedback to design engineers, and project management input. Develop new systems for the North American market based on customer requirements; provide technical support to other Systems Engineers. Provide quarterly updates to Senior Staff and Department Managers on project progress. Qualifications Skills: Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment and comply with company rules and policies. Adhere to quality, product safety, and HSE standards; understand applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, CMMI). Maintain and safeguard business records; substitute for Team Leader as needed; represent the company at customer-facing events when required. Provide support to colleagues and undertake other duties as requested. Knowledge: Knowledge of HVAC equipment or similar electromechanical systems; thermodynamics, physics, system calculations, and technical documentation. Familiarity with ISO standards and refrigeration systems. Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager. Rail experience is a plus. Education / Compensation & Benefits The anticipated salary range for Westminster, MD is $89,000 to $134,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, qualifications, and applicable plan documents.
