Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) is a D.C.-based grassroots nonprofit advocacy organization. With more than 40 chapters nationwide, FAPA empowers grassroot advocacy, civic engagement and public education advancing policies to strengthen U.S.-Taiwan relations and support Taiwan’s international standing.

Position Overview  

\n

FAPA is seeking a proactive, creative, and policy-aware Communications Coordinator to strengthen the organization’s visual and digital communications. The ideal candidate combines strong graphic design and social media content creation skills with an understanding of U.S.-Taiwan relations and the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, concise, and engaging public-facing content.

This position plays a key role in implementing FAPA’s brand identity across digital and print materials, managing day-to-day social media content, coordinating website content and updates, developing publications and multimedia content, and communicating FAPA's advocacy priorities effectively to both English- and Mandarin-speaking audiences.

Key Responsibilities & Duties  

\n

\n

Brand Implementation  

\n

\n
• Apply and maintain FAPA’s brand guidelines consistently across all digital and print communications. 
\n
• Guide local chapters on their usage of the brand guidelines.  
\n

\n

\n

Content Creation  

\n

\n
• Create all graphics, videos and visual assets for social media, publications, advocacy campaigns, development campaigns, events, and other organizational needs. 
\n
• Develop and adapt policy-related content for social media, publications, email communications, FAPA’s website, and other communication platforms. 
\n
• Translate policies into clear, concise, and engaging visual-driven digital content across different media.  
\n
• Collaborate with policy team to ensure accuracy and consistency in communications. 
\n
• Create events and promotional collateral for all events, and campaigns (including program handbook, digital flyers, social media posts, and as needed). 
\n

\n

Social Media Management  

\n

\n
• Manage FAPA’s day-to-day social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X and LinkedIn, Line. 
\n
• Draft, adapt, schedule, and publish platform-specific content, including captions, short-form videos, and other multimedia content to maximize engagement and advance FAPA’s advocacy goals. 
\n
• Support rapid-response communications and live social media coverage and posting during events, campaigns, congressional actions, and advocacy initiatives.  
\n
• Monitor social media trends, analytics, and audience engagement to improve content performance and outreach strategies.  
\n
• Prepare monthly communications and analytics reports, including audience growth, engagement metrics, and content performance insights. 
\n

Website Maintenance and Updates  

\n

\n
• Maintain and regularly update FAPA’s website content to ensure information is current, accurate, and consistent with FAPA’s messaging. 
\n
• Coordinate with staff to update policy, advocacy, event, chapter, and organizational content on the website in a timely manner. 
\n

Publications Design  

\n

\n
• Lead the development, editing, and distribution of FAPA publications and communications materials, including, FAPA Update , FAPA News , and other printed and digital materials.

• Maintain and organize digital communications assets and content archives. 
\n

\n

\n

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities  

\n

\n

The ideal candidate possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities below:  

\n

\n
• Strong graphic design skills with proficiency in Canva, Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite, or comparable design tools 
\n
• Strong video editing, and multimedia storytelling 
\n
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with strong editorial judgement 
\n
• Familiarity with website content management systems and email marketing platforms 
\n
• Strong understanding of U.S.-Taiwan relations and U.S. legislative processes, with the ability to identify and translate key policy developments into well-designed content 
\n
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines  
\n
• Project management

• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin 
\n

Education and/or Experience  

\n

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Graphic Design, International Relations, Political Science, or related fields.  
\n
• Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in communications, digital content, social media, graphic design, or related fields. 
\n

\n

\n

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $60,000 – 68,000 
\n
