A rapidly growing alternative investment platform is seeking a Vice President, Controller to support a high-net-worth family office relationship. The firm invests across multiple asset classes, including private equity, credit, real assets, and public markets, and provides customized investment and advisory solutions to sophisticated clients.

Position Overview

\n

This is a highly hands-on accounting and reporting role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, fund operations, and financial reporting activities for a complex family office structure. The ideal candidate is a technically strong accounting professional who is comfortable working in a lean environment, owning deliverables directly, and partnering closely with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Accounting & Financial Reporting

\n

\n
• Manage the monthly and quarterly close process across multiple entities and investment vehicles.
\n
• Maintain accurate books and records, including general ledger, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
\n
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and related workpapers.
\n
• Monitor cash activity, liquidity, and capital planning needs.
\n

\n

Fund & Partnership Accounting

\n

\n
• Maintain partner capital accounts and oversee capital calls and distributions.
\n
• Calculate carried interest, waterfalls, incentive allocations, and management fees.
\n
• Prepare investor reporting, capital statements, and expense allocations.
\n
• Support accounting for complex investment structures and special-purpose entities.
\n

Valuation & Performance Reporting

\n

\n
• Assist with quarterly valuation processes and supporting analyses.
\n
• Produce portfolio performance reports and investment analytics, including IRR, MOIC, DPI, and TVPI calculations.
\n
• Provide ad hoc financial and investment analyses to senior management.
\n

\n

Audit, Tax & Operational Support

\n

\n
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, administrators, and other service providers.
\n
• Review third-party deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
\n
• Support tax reporting, audit requests, and regulatory requirements.
\n
• Assist in developing and enhancing accounting processes, controls, and operational infrastructure.
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• 7-15 years of accounting, financial reporting, or fund accounting experience within alternative investments.
\n
• Experience with private equity, credit, real assets, family offices, or multi-asset investment platforms.
\n
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting, capital activity, fund waterfalls, carried interest, and performance reporting.
\n
• Prior public accounting and/or fund administration experience preferred.
\n
• Hands-on experience managing the full accounting cycle, including close processes, NAV reporting, capital account maintenance, and financial statement preparation.
\n
• CPA preferred.
