Make an incredible impact by supporting a first-grade student who needs compassionate, skilled medical care in their school environment. This contract opportunity offers a rewarding assignment for an RN experienced with high-acuity pediatric cases, eager to serve as a 1:1 school nurse. You’ll be an essential daily presence in the student’s life, managing complex medical and mobility needs and working closely with educational staff in a supportive environment near Elgin, IL.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid and active RN license in the state is required
• Demonstrated expertise in ventilator and tracheostomy management, including frequent suctioning and respiratory monitoring
• Proficient in G-tube feedings, pump management, and supporting oral liquid feedings
• Comfortable providing hands-on care: assisting with transfers, hygiene/changing, and lifting heavy equipment (student uses a wheelchair, may require lifting items such as oxygen tanks)
• Prior experience as a school nurse or in 1:1 pediatric/home health roles strongly preferred
• Skilled at independent operation of medical equipment and adapting to classroom settings
• Able to effectively collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators; strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able and willing to ride the school bus with the student daily (approximate 2-mile route each way) and oversee their well-being during transit

• Implement and monitor medical protocols to ensure the student’s safety and comfort
• Proactively communicate with the student’s care team, keeping stakeholders informed and involved
• Foster a supportive, nurturing atmosphere that supports the student’s learning and participation
